If you turn 50% throttle and then turn left to the left, the left motor will be reduced by 50% and the right motor will increase by 50%. The result is that the left motor will stop (that is, the throttle is 50%-the direction is 50%=0) and the right motor will turn full (that is, the throttle is 50%+the direction is 50%=0).
