The Avro Lancaster was a heavy four-engine British bomber aircraft from World War II, built by A.V.Roe (Avro) and used from 1942 onward. Alongside the Handley Page Halifax, the Lancaster was the basic heavy bomber of the British Royal Air Force during World War II.
